Life and Times of the
18th Century

Hear what life in Colonial New England was like in the late 1700's. Through the stories, you will be able to share in their laughter, feel their joy, picture their countryside, and learn what they feared. Maybe even be part of a little trickery!

Meet characters not always found in the history books and perhaps learn a few new things about those that are. Marvel at the honor and graciousness of brave men and women of the times.

Storyteller, Andy Cheney, brings history to life in period costume as he portrays Ebenezer Webster, a soldier, settler and family man of Salisbury, NH. Andy's stories are based on researched facts, character sketches and his personal experience gained through participation in Living History and its family of re-enactors.

In the spring of 2000, Andy and his family began Historical Re-enacting by joining the Quebec Historical Corps, depicting both French and Indian War and Revolutionary War periods. In 2001, he became a volunteer at the Daniel Webster Birthplace in Franklin, NH. Although Andy has been accused of telling tall tales for years, he formally became a member of the Central NH Storytelling Guild in 2002.

Andy has told stories in many venues, including Tellabration! at the Annichiarico Theater, Concord, NH; Massabesic Audubon Society, Manchester, NH; Boscawen Old Home Days, Boscawen, NH; Sanbornton Historical Society, Sanbornton, NH. He told stories and presented a Living History program in the Academy History Class and Elementary classes at Pine Tree Academy, Freeport, ME.

A typical presentation would be 45 to 60 minutes of period stories. Any stories would be adjusted to be age appropriate. A demonstration of equipment and gear can also be arranged.
